Job summary

Genesee & Wyoming Inc. in Cheyenne, WY is seeking a Switchman to safely operate rail equipment and ensure timely railcar movements. You will receive hands-on and classroom training, work outdoors in all weather, and grow in a dynamic rail environment.

This full-time, 40+ hour weekly position involves following safety rules, coordinating with a trainer or supervisor, and using basic computer tools for reporting. Relocation not offered; candidate must live within 50 miles of Cheyenne.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license; must be 18+.
• Pre-employment medical review and drug testing may be required.

Responsibilities

• Comply with federal, state, and railroad safety regulations.
• Coordinate train/railcar movement with signals, commands, and radio.
• Operate track switches to determine train routes and priorities.
• Inspect railcars and read rule books for safe operations.
• Read and follow safety procedures in outdoor work environments.
