Job summary

National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. (NRSS) seeks a Contractor in Charge (CIC) in Laredo, TX to oversee railroad safety, construction, and compliance for freight railroads, transit systems, and DOT projects.

The CIC will lead field safety, perform job briefings, monitor FRA rules, and coordinate with railroad personnel while traveling extensively. Competitive hourly pay reflects experience and safety expertise.

Qualifications

• Strong computer, communication, and organizational skills.
• Communicates effectively in verbal and written formats.
• Valid Driver's License.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in a railroad company (maintenance of way/TY&E).
• Successfully completes all required federal, client, and company-specific training.

Responsibilities

• Oversee worksite safety and provide flagging services as needed.
• Conduct job briefings and ensure FRA regulations (49 CFR 214) compliance.
• Monitor track conditions, approaching trains, and work activities for safety.
• Coordinate train movements with dispatchers in real time.
• Document all activities and submit reports to management/regulatory agencies.
• Enforce Railroad, State, and Federal policies.
