Job summary

Olsson, a design and engineering firm, seeks a Senior Engineer to lead railroad bridge and structure projects in the Omaha area. You will guide planning, design, and delivery, mentor junior staff, and collaborate with clients, regulators, and contractors to meet project goals.

Required are a PE license, a Civil/Structural degree, and 8+ years of railroad experience. Full-time role with growth opportunities and a strong benefits package in a people-centric environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience supporting railroad bridge and structure design projects.
• Strong knowledge of railroad bridge design principles, structural analysis, and industry standards.
• Experience leading technical design efforts and coordinating project deliverables.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the structural analysis and design of railroad bridges and related structures for a variety of transportation projects.
• Prepare and review engineering calculations, plans, specifications, and technical reports to ensure quality and accuracy.
• Provide technical direction and mentorship to junior engineers and engineering staff.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to develop innovative and practical design solutions.
• Support project planning efforts by assisting with scope development, scheduling, budgeting, and resource coordination.
• Conduct quality control reviews and ensure compliance with applicable design standards, codes, and client requirements.
• Collaborate directly with clients, contractors, railroads, and regulatory agencies throughout project development and delivery.
• Assist with business development activities, including proposal preparation, client relationship management, and identifying opportunities for future work.
