Job summary

Union Pacific Railroad is seeking a Bridge & Building Carpenter in Kansas to perform carpentry work on bridges and buildings, under supervision of a foreman. Responsibilities include constructing and repairing timber bridges, masonry work, and utility structures to keep rail infrastructure safe and functional.

The role requires physical stamina, CDL eligibility, blueprint reading, and strong safety awareness.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years or older.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Experience with hand and power tools.
• CDL Class A or B, or ability to obtain one within probationary period.
• Clear communication skills, both written and spoken.
• Ability to read and comprehend blueprints and instructions.

Responsibilities

• Paint, frame, and install bridge timbers.
• Construct masonry repairs on bridges, including forms, piles, and concrete work.
• Perform construction and repair on culverts, timber/steel bridges, and buildings.
• Maintain positive relationships with colleagues and customers while handling urgent situations.
• Adhere to safety, FRA regulations, and railroad-industry rules.
• Execute additional responsibilities as assigned.
