Job summary

Amtrak Beech Grove, IN is seeking a skilled technician responsible for inspection, testing and maintenance of wheels sets, brakes and suspension on rolling stock, in compliance with FRA and Amtrak standards. You will troubleshoot equipment, repair doors and interior components, use diagnostic tools, and may perform welding.

A high school diploma is required, with experience in mechanical systems and the ability to read drawings.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
Experience in troubleshooting, repair, replacement and rebuilding of mechanical equipment and systems.
Must complete training and obtain certifications applicable to the job.
Education may be satisfied by equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Responsibilities

Inspect, test and maintain wheels sets, brakes, brake pads and suspension per FRA and Amtrak standards.
Troubleshoot equipment to determine corrective actions and causes of equipment failures.
Repair doors, windows, interior equipment, access panels, hand brakes, brake shoes, exterior components and safety devices.
Use a variety of test equipment to diagnose malfunctions, troubleshoot and repair components and circuits.
May perform welding and burning.
