Job summary

Amtrak in Maryland is seeking a skilled maintenance technician responsible for inspection, testing and maintenance of wheels sets, brakes, and suspension on rolling stock in accordance with FRA and Amtrak guidelines.

You will troubleshoot equipment, diagnose failures, and perform repairs on doors, windows and safety components using a range of test equipment. Candidates should have strong mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic knowledge and read drawings to support precise maintenance.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical equipment.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings and schematics.
• Experience using electronic test tools and diagnostic equipment.
• Knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, test and maintain wheels sets, brakes and suspension per FRA standards.
• Troubleshoot equipment to identify causes of failures and take corrective action.
• Repair doors, windows, interior components and safety equipment as needed.
• Operate and interpret test equipment to diagnose electrical and mechanical faults.
• Maintain tools and materials in safe, organized condition.
