Job summary

Amtrak in Beech Grove, IN is seeking a skilled electrical/electromechanical technician to inspect, test and maintain electrical, electronic and HVAC systems on rolling stock in accordance with FRA and Amtrak standards.

You will diagnose malfunctions using test equipment, repair or replace components, install motors and transformers, and troubleshoot AC/DC systems while adhering to safety and quality guidelines. Strong reading of schematics and ability to lift up to 25 lbs are required.

Qualifications

• HVAC experience required.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience in electrical repairs and testing advanced electrical/electronic systems.
• Ability to read, draft and interpret circuit diagrams, schematics and mechanical drawings.
• Experience with both AC and DC electrical systems.
• Must complete training and obtain applicable certifications.
• Must lift up to 25 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, test, and maintain electrical, electronic and HVAC systems on rolling stock.
• Diagnose malfunctions using test equipment and PC-based information.
• Repair or replace doors, electronics, signs, pantographs, and HVAC systems.
• Install motors, generators, switches, relays, batteries, and transformers.
• Troubleshoot equipment to determine causes and corrective actions.
• Maintain care of tools and equipment.
• Work on AC and DC voltage systems.
