Job summary

Amtrak in Massachusetts is seeking a Maintenance Technician to inspect, test and maintain wheels sets, brakes and suspension on rolling stock in accordance with FRA and Amtrak standards. You will troubleshoot equipment, repair doors and interior components, and use test equipment to diagnose malfunctions and repair circuits.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, plus experience with mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems and reading mechanical drawings.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
Experience in troubleshooting, repair, replacement and rebuilding of mechanical equipment and systems.
Must complete training and attain certifications applicable to assigned job.
Knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
Ability to read mechanical drawings.
Knowledge of electronic tools and measurements to meet standards.
Some computer skills.
Ability to read, write and communicate proficiently.

Responsibilities

Inspect, test and maintain wheels sets, brakes, brake pads and suspension per FRA and Amtrak.
Troubleshoot equipment to determine corrective actions and causes of failures.
Repair doors, windows, interior equipment, hand brakes, brakeshoes, other car components.
Use test equipment to diagnose malfunctions and repair components and circuits.
Maintain care and use of materials, test equipment, machines and hand tools.
May perform welding and burning.
