Qualdoc in Richmond, VA is seeking a Railcar Maintenance Technician to perform welding, fabrication, inspection, and repair work on freight railcars. The role supports reliability and safe operations through quality maintenance.

The position requires on-call availability, travel to job sites, and physical work. Starting salary is $46,800/year, with higher pay possible based on experience.

Qualifications

• Welding and fabrication experience required.
• AWS welding certification required.
• Knowledge of freight railcar components and repair practices.
• Familiarity with railroad safety rules and industry standards.
• Strong communication, teamwork and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to read, write and speak English.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to obtain and maintain required safety training and certifications.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain, weld, fabricate, and repair freight railcars.
• Prepare tools, materials, vehicles, and equipment for assignments.
• Participate in job briefings and follow safety procedures.
• Coordinate with team members to complete work safely and efficiently.
• Complete work orders and maintain accurate job documentation.
• Clean work areas, organize equipment, and restock supplies after assignments.
• Follow applicable safety, quality, and maintenance requirements.
