Qualdoc in Richmond, VA is seeking a Railcar Repair Technician to perform maintenance, welding, fabrication, and repair work on railroad freight cars, ensuring safety and compliance with industry standards. This role involves emergency railroad service, on-call availability 24/7, and travel to multiple job sites, including outdoor work in all weather and extended hours as needed.

Qualifications

• Welding and fabrication expertise required.
• AWS welding certification is required.
• Knowledge of freight car components and railcar repair practices.
• Familiarity with the AAR Field Manual, Blue Flag safety rules, and FRA standards.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to obtain and maintain certifications, including CPR, First Aid, E-Rail Safe, and CSX On-Track Safety.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain, repair, weld, and fabricate railroad freight cars in accordance with safety and quality standards.
• Prepare work vehicles, tools, materials, and equipment before assignments and inspect them after work is completed.
• Participate in job briefings and follow established safety procedures.
• Work closely with team members to complete repair assignments efficiently and safely.
• Maintain professional working relationships with customers and coworkers.
• Clean job sites, organize tools and equipment, and restock supplies after assignments.
• Complete work orders and other required documentation accurately and on time.
• Follow applicable company procedures, railroad safety rules, and industry requirements.
