Job summary

Guardian Rail is seeking a Repair Technician to inspect and repair railcars to FRA and AAR specs, using welding or mechanical assembly skills. A $1,500 sign-on/retention bonus is offered and pay scales are competitive based on skills and experience.

The role requires outdoor, hands-on work in all weather, a safety mindset, and the ability to read blueprints and operate tools and welding equipment. Training is provided to meet internal welding standards.

Qualifications

• High-school diploma or GED required.
• Railcar repair or Carman experience preferred.
• Ability to read safety rules, operating instructions, and blueprints.
• Experience with hand and power tools.
• Physically able to perform outdoor, heavy work.
• Must pass fitness-for-duty and drug tests.

Responsibilities

• Perform railcar repairs in compliance with FRA and AAR rules.
• Conduct pre- and post-inspections of assigned railcars.
• Follow safety protocols and environmental rules.
• Operate hand and power tools and welding equipment.
• Work as part of a team in outdoor conditions.
• Understand railcar components and shop work orders.
