Job summary

Guardian Rail is seeking Repair Technicians to inspect and repair railcars and tank cars. Candidates should have rail industry or heavy industrial experience, including welding or mechanical assembly. A $1,500 sign-on/retention bonus is offered, with pay based on skills and experience.

Responsibilities include performing repairs per customer specifications, ensuring safety and quality, and working outdoors year-round in a hands-on, team-oriented environment.

Qualifications

• High-school diploma or GED required.
• Prior experience as Carman or Railcar Repair Technician highly desirable.
• Must read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and blueprints.
• Basic mechanical knowledge with hand and power tools.
• Outdoor, physical, hands-on work with frequent standing, climbing, stooping, kneeling, pushing and lifting.
• Certified E7018 welder preferred.
• Must communicate effectively and possess basic math skills.
• Must pass fitness-for-duty, pre-employment physical, and drug/alcohol screenings.

Responsibilities

• Perform railcar repairs in compliance with FRA and AAR rules.
• Conduct pre- and post-inspections of railcars.
• Follow all safety protocols and quality programs.
• Keep work areas clean and compliant with OSHA and environmental rules.
• Operate and maintain hand and power tools, welding equipment, and cutting torches.
• Train and operate equipment like forklift, crane, or hoist as required.
