Job summary

Guardian Rail in Woodland, CA, is hiring Repair Technicians to inspect and repair railcars and tank cars in year-round outdoor conditions. You will perform mechanical maintenance, read blueprints, and follow FRA/AAR rules while using welding and cutting equipment.

We seek candidates with prior rail or heavy industrial experience, a safety mindset, and the ability to work as part of a team. A high school diploma or GED is required, and a sign-on bonus applies.

Qualifications

• High-school diploma or GED required.
• Prior experience as Carman or Railcar Repair Technician highly desirable.
• Must be able to read safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and blueprints.
• Must possess basic mechanical knowledge and experience with hand & power tools.
• Certified E7018 welder preferred.
• Must be able to pass fitness-for-duty, pre-employment physical, and drug/alcohol screenings.

Responsibilities

• Perform railcar repairs in compliance with FRA and AAR interchange rules.
• Conduct pre and post inspection of all assigned railcars.
• Comply with all safety protocols and environmental rules.
• Keep work area clean and orderly in line with company rules.
• Follow written and verbal directions and work in a team environment.
• Set up and operate hand/power tools including air arc, plasma cutting, Huck/AWS welding processes.
• Complete training to operate equipment such as forklift, crane, or hoist.
