Job summary

Guardian Rail is recruiting Repair Technicians for Longview, WA. You will inspect and repair railcars to industry specs, performing hands-on mechanical tasks in year-round outdoor conditions while following FRA and AAR rules. Qualifications

• High-school diploma or GED required.
• Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and blueprints.
• Basic mechanical knowledge and experience with hand & power tools, including heavier air and electric powered tools and cutting torches.
• Outdoor, physical, hands-on work with frequent standing, climbing, stooping, kneeling, lifting required.
• Certified E7018 welder preferred.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and communicate effectively.
• Basic math skills and ability to understand simple mathematical concepts.
• Reasoning ability to solve practical problems.
• Must pass fitness-for-duty examination and pre-employment screenings.

Responsibilities

• Perform railcar repairs in compliance with FRA and AAR interchange rules.
• Conduct pre and post inspection of all assigned railcars.
• Comply with safety protocols and in-house and OSHA rules.
• Follow in-house quality program and relevant welding standards.
• Maintain a clean work area in compliance with rules and regulations.
• Follow written and verbal directions and work in a team environment.
• Understand railcar components and shop work orders; assist in disassembly of damaged railcars.
• Perform repairs such as basic mechanical work, grinding, painting and decaling as required.
• Set up and operate tools including air arc, plasma cutting, Huck and welding machines, oxyfuel heating/cutting.
