Job summary

Guardian Rail in Roseburg, OR is hiring Repair Technicians to inspect and repair railcars for mechanical and operational integrity per customer specs. Expect work with railcar components, welding, and basic mechanical tasks in a heavy industrial setting.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, plus experience or aptitude in railcar repair, reading blueprints, and using hand and power tools. A $1,500 sign-on/retention bonus is paid over the first 12 months.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Prior Carman/railcar repair experience desirable.
• Ability to read safety rules and blueprints.
• Basic mechanical knowledge and tools experience.
• Outdoor, physical, hands-on work with lifting and climbing.
• Certified E7018 welder preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Basic math skills and problem solving.
• Reasoning to solve practical problems.
• Pre-employment medical, fitness, and drug screenings.

Responsibilities

• Perform railcar repairs per FRA/AAR rules.
• Pre/post-inspection of assigned railcars.
• Follow safety protocols and OSHA rules.
• Conform to internal quality processes and rail rules.
• Maintain clean work area per rules.
• Follow written and verbal directions in a team setting.
• Understand railcar components and work orders.
• Assist disassembly of damaged railcars.
• Perform basic repairs, grinding, painting, decaling as needed.
• Set up and operate tools and welding equipment.
• Interior railcar cleaning and documentation training.
