Job summary

The Greenbrier Companies is seeking an Operator 1 to operate a variety of machinery such as saws, presses and drills to fabricate railcar component parts to meet close tolerances. You will read drawings and follow production standards to ensure quality.

This role works in a production environment with exposure to heat, cold, noise, and moving machinery. You will use hand tools, inspect parts, and maintain safety and PPE compliance.

Qualifications

• 6+ months experience operating various types of manufacturing equipment and machinery.
• Ability to operate a computer to run reports, send and receive communication, etc.
• Ability to work in a team or independently.

Responsibilities

• Assembles and grinds products such as carbon and stainless steel, or aluminum, using grinders, tables or conveyor systems.
• Uses hand tools such as wrenches, electric tools, and ratchets.
• Monitors output and proper operation of mechanical equipment.
• Adjusts parts to ensure quality requirements are met.
• Conducts regular inspections of parts produced through measurements.
• Reads drawings and follows production standards.
• Uses common measuring equipment such as tape measures.
