Job summary

CN is seeking a Mechanical Supervisor (Car) to lead day-to-day railcar inspection, maintenance, and repair activities from main terminals or line points. You will supervise unionized staff, ensure safe operations, and maintain performance targets to meet CN commitments to customers.

Role requires 4+ years supervisory experience in railroad shopcraft, strong electrical/mechanical knowledge, and the ability to train staff.

Qualifications

• Electrical and Mechanical experience
• Minimum 4 years supervisory experience of both union and non-union Employees
• Minimum 3 years of experience in railroad Mechanical Shopcraft or comparable position
• Any designation for these above would be considered as an asset

Responsibilities

• Coach and train Mechanical employees on safe and productive work procedures
• Lead the onboarding and training activities of new employees and supervisors
• Drive freight car fleet reliability as measured by bad order status and availability
• Ensure Shift Supervisors utilize crews effectively by inspecting cars and testing air brakes
• Certify that car inspection and productivity standards are maintained to meet service plans
