Job summary

The Transportation Supervisor is an entry-level front line supervisor position at CN, responsible for meeting service commitments by managing day-to-day train operations and unionized crews. The role includes working in a 24/7 environment, possibly as an on-call supervisor reporting to remote line points, while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities focus on learning CN operating rules, coaching staff, and maintaining safe, efficient train departures.

Qualifications

• Experience in a safety-compliant environment preferred.
• Minimum 4 years of supervisory experience with unionized employees.
• 3 years of experience on railroad as conductor or related role.
• Must have valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Learn and enforce CN operating rules and safety procedures.
• Oversee day-to-day train operations and crew utilization.
• Coordinate with Rail Traffic Control to plan train lineups and meets.
• Monitor service commitments, adjust as needed, and manage delays.
• Conduct investigations and enforce the collective agreement when required.
• Promote safety and training programs across teams.
