Job summary

TTX Company seeks a maintenance specialist to repair, modify, and upgrade railcars in a hands-on, safety-conscious environment. You will weld, cut, and fabricate components, perform mechanical labor, and follow blueprints and specs to ensure proper operation.

Responsibilities include using hand and power tools, operating forklifts, and entering repair data into an electronic system while maintaining a clean, safe workspace and meeting customer and industry standards.

Qualifications

• Knowledge: mechanical skills.
• Skills: welding and cutting.
• Mental factors: decision-making and reasoning; intermediate planning and scheduling.

Responsibilities

• Repairs, modifies, and upgrades rail cars.
• Rebuilds car components: bolsters, side framers, hitch heads, and box car doors.
• Welds (30% of time) and fabricates using cutting torch.
• Performs mechanical labor (frequently - 95% of time).
• Repairs and maintains railcars per blueprints and specs using hand/power tools; inspects visually to locate trouble.
• Enters car repair information via electronic keyboard system.
