Job summary

Road & Rail Services in Vance, Alabama is seeking dependable Railcar Inspector & Prep Technician to support our operations. This hands-on role involves inspecting, preparing railcars for service, and keeping equipment clean.

Start time is 4:30 a.m., pay is $17.00 per hour, and work up to six days per week on-site. You will inspect interiors, remove debris, operate approved tools, and help meet daily production goals in a safety-minded, team-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Valid state-issued driver's license.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality.
• Ability to report for a 4:30 a.m. start time.
• Availability up to six days per week when required.
• Safety-first mindset.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Willingness to learn railcar inspection and preparation procedures.

• Previous railroad experience is not required; related hands-on work can be helpful.

Responsibilities

• Inspect railcars for damage, wear, fatigue, or visible concerns
• Check railcar interiors before loading
• Remove dirt, debris, and potential contaminants using approved equipment
• Open, inspect, and secure railcar end doors
• Identify repair needs within Road & Rail Services' authorized scope of work
• Report damaged railcars, equipment concerns, and unsafe conditions
• Follow railroad, customer, and company safety requirements
• Properly use and maintain assigned tools and equipment
• Keep work areas clean and free of hazards
• Support daily production goals and assist coworkers
• Complete additional railcar preparation and housekeeping duties as assigned
