Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is seeking an Electrician for the Car Equipment Division to diagnose, repair, maintain, and test electrical and electronic systems on PATH railcars. You will troubleshoot railcar subsystems, perform bench-work, and use portable test equipment to identify faults.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and at least four years as a journeyman electrician or completion of an apprentice program.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Four (4) years paid full-time work experience as a journeyman in the Electrical trade - OR - completion of a registered Car Equipment Electrician Apprentice Program.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, test, repair, and rewire electrical and electronic equipment of railcar subsystems such as traction control, HVAC, lighting, communications, and more.
• Perform fault log downloads from railcars using Portable Test Equipment for troubleshooting and repair.
• Remove, install, assemble, and disassemble railcar systems; conduct bench-work in Electrical Shop.
• Use electrical test equipment to troubleshoot and repair railcar defects; inspect PCB boards and assemblies.
• Work with hand and power tools and follow PATH procedures in accordance with FRA and OSHA rules.
