Job summary

Watco in the United States is seeking an Equipment Control Coordinator to efficiently allocate pool cars in response to customer and operational needs. You will work closely with the fleet manager to ensure cars deliver the intended return on investment.

In this role, you will communicate with customers to meet order requirements as cars become available and gain deep knowledge of markets that support pooled fleets.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication and coordination skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with various departments and external partners.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerBI).
• Railroad experience and car type knowledge.
• Understanding of railroad rules and car ownership regulations.

Responsibilities

• Allocate pool cars based on customer and operational needs
• Collaborate with the fleet manager to ensure ROI
• Work with customers to meet order needs as cars become available
• Understand markets that support pooled fleets to balance car supply
• Coordinate with operations on pre-staging of cars
• Work with foreign railroads as needed to manage car cycles
• Maintain education on current rules governed by AAR and Class I regulations
• Other duties may be assigned as needed
