Job summary

Bechtel is seeking a seasoned Construction Manager for a major rail/transit program in San Jose, CA. You will oversee Resident Engineers, Office Engineers, Inspectors, and project staff to ensure safe, timely, within-scope, and within-budget delivery for Phase II of the BART Silicon Valley program.

The role requires extensive experience in heavy civil construction, especially tunneling, SEM, TBMs, and ground improvement, plus strong leadership, safety, and contract-management skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master's degree in construction management, geology, engineering, or related field.
• Two or more tunnel projects using verifiable pressurized-face TBMs (>18 ft).
• Experience with SEM (Sequential Excavation Method).
• Experience with ground freezing/improvement projects.
• Experience as a Resident Engineer or Construction Manager on a rail transit project of at least $500 million.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise construction activities for a single contract, including Bechtel, subcontractors, client contractors, suppliers, and reps.
• Act as primary contact for the project.
• Monitor contractor work for schedule, budget, and technical spec compliance.
• Resolve design and field construction problems.
• Attend progress meetings and report status.
• Prepare internal and external project reports.
• Implement design and field changes.
• Maintain client and department relationships.
• Review and negotiate contractor change requests.
• Oversee contract administration activities.
