Metro-North Railroad is seeking Rail Traffic Controllers to direct train and equipment movements on main and other tracks. You will issue instructions to staff and ensure safe, timely operation across a defined territory.

Role requires monitoring of signals, radio and data systems, maintaining records, and coordinating track usage with Maintenance of Way. Strong communication and decision-making under pressure are essential for success in this high‑stakes environment.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Direct all train and equipment movement within a territory by remote switches and signals.
• Protect employees on the right of way and maintain records of movements and events.
• Monitor radios, phones, screens for movements and issues; report per protocol.
• Communicate routing and conditions clearly; adapt to changing priorities.
• Maintain familiarity with train schedules and station times.
• Coordinate track usage with maintenance crews; report delays.
• Prepare information on performance and delays; manage emergencies.
