Job summary

Martinus Rail is seeking a track maintenance crew member to maintain, repair, and replace rails, ties, switches, and ballast. The role involves travel 100% of the time with projects two-to-three weeks on site and one week at home.

The position emphasizes safety, regulatory compliance, and manual as well as equipment-based tasks on rail infrastructure nationwide. Candidates must meet physical requirements and pass background checks.

Qualifications

• Must be able and willing to work safely.
• Ability to complete written FRA forms/reports.
• Read and interpret safety rules and regulations.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Experience with heavy hand tools and outdoor work.
• Must pass Federal background check.
• Able to comply with FRA 219 drug program.
• Know FRA 213 rules and regulations.

Responsibilities

• This is a traveling position 100% of the time; schedules are two to three weeks on project, one week at home.
• Maintain safety-conscious work ethic on site.
• Repair and rebuild railroad track and bridge structures using hydraulic/hand tools.
• Remove and replace ties and rails; drive spikes; lift ballast; load/unload equipment.
• Operate tampers, regulators, backhoes, torches, hammers, jacks and other tools.
• Perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot equipment issues.
• Stay compliant with federal/state railroad regulations.
• Adhere to and promote safe work practices.
