Job summary

Martinus is seeking a track maintainer to join a traveling crew responsible for maintaining, repairing, and replacing railroad rails, ties, switches, and ballast. The role involves using hand tools and operating heavy equipment, with an opportunity to qualify as a machine operator.

The position is 100% travel with two to three weeks on project followed by one week at home; candidates must meet safety, regulatory, and physical requirements. Growth into machine operator is possible.

Qualifications

• Must be able to work safely and follow regulations.
• Ability to read safety rules and maintenance instructions.
• Experience with heavy hand tools and outdoor work.
• Must pass Federal background check and FRA drug program.
• Willingness to travel to multiple job sites, including overnight stays.

Responsibilities

• Traveling position 100% of the time with on-site schedules.
• Maintain, repair, and replace rails, ties, switches, and ballast.
• Repair railroad track and bridge structures using hydraulic or hand tools.
• Remove and replace ties and rails; load/unload equipment and materials.
• Operate tools and equipment such as tampers, regulators, torches, hammers, jacks.
• Perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot equipment.
