PRS Auto is actively seeking a Railroad Automotive Supervisor to join our CSX West Columbia auto facility team. This entry-level, full-time position offers on-site work with no prior railroad experience required as training will be provided.

Applicants must live within a 1-hour commute and relocation is not considered. The role focuses on coordinating terminal operations, workforce management, and maintaining service levels to satisfy customer needs while following company policies.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Oversees scheduling and coordination of automotive terminal activities, including ramping and de-ramping of vehicles.
• Ensure workforce productivity meets company standards and service levels.
• Uphold safety policies and promote a high standard of safety among staff.
• Manage manpower, schedules, and duties; ensure cost-effective operations.
• Direct customer communications to meet requirements and secure operations in the railyard.
• Maintain daily contact with Terminal Managers to advise on productivity and cost controls.

Job description

PRS Auto is hiring immediately for a Railroad Automotive Supervisor to Join our team working at the CSX West Columbia, SC auto facility in a recession-proof industry! This is a full-time permanent entry-level position and no experience is required as we'll teach you everything you need to know in order to be successful on the job. This is an essential job and you'll have the opportunity to work for the #1 intermodal contractor in the United States!

You will be employed directly by PRS Auto and will not be considered an employee of the Railroad.

The schedule and Rate will be discussed during the interview.

Job Summary

The Automotive Yard Supervisor is responsible for coordinating the terminal’s operations to ensure that the retention of service levels satisfies the customer’s requirements. This person will take direction from policies and procedures established by the Company, Vice Presidents, Assistant Vice Presidents, Directors, Assistant Terminal Managers, and Terminal Managers.

Essential Job Responsibilities

• Oversees the scheduling and coordinating of the automotive activities of the terminal. This includes the ramping and de-ramping of automobiles based on the fluctuation of business-level needs.
• Assures that personnel is meeting the performance levels of the productivity goals and maintaining acceptable service levels based on set company standards.
• Assists in the company’s safety policies by upholding a high level of standard for all employees.
• Monitor the handling of vehicles in such a manner that is cost-effective for the company while meeting the customer’s service standards.
• Responsible for determining manpower levels, personnel schedules, and duties assigned.
• Directs contact with customers ensuring that all customer requirements are met and the security of all operations is confined within the railyard.
• Consistent daily contact is maintained with the Assistant Terminal Managers and Terminal Manager for informational purposes and recommendations to improve productivity and cost controls.
• All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Valid Drivers License.
• Advanced knowledge of the railroad industry from a vocational education institute, apprenticeship, on-the-job training, and/or similar supervisory work experience. (Preferred but not required)
• Ability to assist in conflict resolution and mediation between co-workers.
• Proven managerial skills to include ability as a strong leader and positive motivator, successful with employee training, a good understanding of a Collective Bargaining Agreement, government regulations, and industry standards.
• Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills to coordinate with a variety of individuals.
