Job summary

Siemens Mobility in West Palm Beach, FL is seeking Rail Technicians to inspect, maintain, and repair locomotives, coaches, and train sets on a 3rd shift schedule (11pm-7:30am) with potential days or afternoons based on needs. The role requires a High School Diploma or GED and at least 3 years in railroad or technical fields, with knowledge of rolling stock a plus.

Position Overview

Siemens Mobility is seeking to hire Rail Technicians to inspect, maintain, and repair trains at our West Palm Beach, FL facility. In this role you will perform day to day running maintenance and unscheduled repair to a fleet of locomotives, coaches, and train sets via maintenance instructions from Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS). The work hours are 3rd shift - 11pm-7:30am (including weekdays, weekends and holidays),but can include dayshift or afternoon shift based on operational needs.

What your day-to-day will look like
  • Follow all maintenance instructions (wherever available) to enforce to and maintain compliance and high-quality standards.
  • Verify that all defects, tasks, and incidents have been reported and detailed in (CMMS) for compliance, issue tracking, and closure.
  • Provide body/welding/paint repair to locomotives, coaches, and train sets.
  • Keep workstation and work areas clean and free of debris at all times.
  • Develop a working relationship with the Customer as an employee and representative of Siemens Mobility.
  • Maintain compliance to all Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) related safety rules, laws, and regulations.
  • Collaborate with the leadership as needed on all site issues, systems, and related facility operations.
  • Willing to perform all other functions as needed, including forklift operation, daily cleaning operations.
To thrive in this role, you have
  • High School Diploma / GED
  • Minimum 3 years of working experience with a railroad or other technical field(s). Technical training will also be considered with lesser work experience,
  • Setting you apart would be detailed knowledge of technical aspects of the rolling stock/depot.
Physical Demands

  • Frequently walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Frequently required to climb stairs, steps, and ladders
  • Frequently required to work on elevated platforms.
  • Perform work overhead.
  • Occasionally lift and move at most 40 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
  • Pushing and pulling objects towards and away from origin of force.
  • Keyboarding on a computer or other machine by means of a traditional keyboard.
  • Gross and Fine Manipulation to include holding, grasping and pinching using hands and fingers.
  • Driving forklifts, golf carts, yard buggies etc.
  • The ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and/or other sounds in person or via communication radio.
