Position Overview

Join Siemens Mobility as a Field Service Technician and play a hands-on role in keeping the Siemens Charger diesel-electric locomotive fleet moving safely and reliably across North America. In this highly visible field position, you will serve as Siemens’ on-site technical expert—commissioning equipment, resolving complex mechanical and electrical issues, supporting warranty operations, and driving reliability improvements that directly impact fleet performance and customer success. You will partner closely with customers, engineering teams, and service colleagues while working with advanced passenger rail technology that helps shape the future of transportation.

What your day-to-day will look like
  • Perform commissioning, warranty, troubleshooting, and repair activities on Siemens locomotive systems to support safe and reliable operations.
  • Diagnose complex mechanical and electrical issues, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
  • Perform field modifications, testing, inspections, and documentation while ensuring compliance with Siemens quality and safety standards.
  • Partner with customers, engineering teams, and service personnel to resolve technical challenges and improve product reliability.
  • Track, document, and communicate operational performance, technical findings, and service activities through Siemens reporting systems.

This posting outlines the primary responsibilities of the role but is not all-inclusive; additional duties may be assigned in alignment with business needs.

To thrive in this role, you have
  • High school diploma or GED, or equivalent rail industry, maintenance, or technical experience; valid driver's license in good standing required.
  • Experience supporting field service, maintenance, commissioning, or technical operations in an industrial environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics and technical documentation.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify and resolve complex equipment issues while following industrial safety practices, including lockout/tagout and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, technicians, engineers, and stakeholders, with flexibility to travel as needed to support customer sites, training, and business requirements.
Physical Demands/Facility Information
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work in industrial and rail yard environments for extended periods.
  • Ability to climb ladders, access locomotive equipment, and work at various heights.
  • Ability to lift and carry tools, equipment, and materials in accordance with safety requirements.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and around moving rail equipment.
  • Ability to travel and support multiple customer locations as business needs require.

Candidates should be willing to work in non-climate-controlled environments and inclement weather if required or if applicable.

Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without needing current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.
