Job summary

Hitachi Rail in Hagerstown, MD is seeking a System Engineer (Door) to lead a range of system engineering activities within the Rolling Stock Engineering Department. The role requires collaboration with internal teams and external suppliers to ensure compliance with railway standards and project constraints.

The candidate will prepare requirements, manage interfaces, analyze supplier documentation, and support integration, testing and homologation processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering (Electrical/Electronics preferred).

Responsibilities

• Prepare System Requirements Specifications (SyRS).
• Define and manage system interfaces throughout the project lifecycle.
• Analyze and assess technical documentation from Suppliers.
• Prepare and verify system installation/integration drawings/specifications.
• Conduct design reviews for onboard systems with Engineering Managers and Project Engineers.
• Prepare Functional Requirements Specifications (FRS) and Functional Test Specifications (FTS).
• Attend system stand-alone type tests and review test reports.
• Support onboard integration, performance testing and validation phases.
• Review design documentation with customers and suppliers and propose changes.
• Ensure compliance with input requirements and international railway regulations.

Education

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Electrical/Electronics preferred)
