Job summary

Hitachi Rail USA, Inc. is seeking a Senior System Engineer (Brake) based in Hagerstown, MD. You will drive system requirements, interfaces, and verification for onboard braking systems in a fast-paced, multinational engineering team.

The role requires 5+ years in railway/industrial environments, strong RAMS and system engineering knowledge, and hands-on experience with DOORS and CAD tools. Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• 5+ experience in the Railway sector or in complex industrial environments.
• Good knowledge of main railway regulations and standards.
• Good knowledge of IBM DOORS requirements management tool.
• Experience with engineering processes and railway operations.
• Good knowledge of system engineering and requirements management disciplines.
• Good knowledge of RAMS principles and processes.
• Experience with design verification and validation methodologies.
• Experience with electrical / mechanical design software (AutoCAD, Creo, Catia, etc.)
• Good knowledge of electrical, electronic and mechanical engineering disciplines.
• Good knowledge of office automation software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced, international and multicultural environment.
• Good organizational skills, alongside team-working, problem-solving and results-driven mindset.
• Ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders (including suppliers, partners, customers)
• Ability to work within project teams under minimal supervision
• Availability for occasional short-term national and international business trips

Responsibilities

• Prepare System Requirements Specifications (SyRS)
• Define and manage system interfaces throughout the project lifecycle
• Analyze and assess technical documentation from Suppliers
• Prepare and verify system installation/integration drawings/specifications
• Conduct design reviews for the assigned onboard systems
• Prepare FRS and FTS for the assigned onboard systems
• Attend at system stand-alone type test and review of type test reports
• Support onboard integration, performance testing and validation phases
• Review design documentation with customers and suppliers
• Ensure compliance with input requirements and railway standards
• Prepare documentation for vehicle approval and homologation
