Job summary

Hitachi Rail is seeking a System Engineer (Door) in Hagerstown, MD. The role involves developing system requirements, managing interfaces, and supporting onboard integration for rolling stock projects within the Rolling Stock Engineering Department.

You will work on FRS/FTS, liaise with suppliers, and ensure compliance with railway standards. The position requires 3–5 years in rail or similar industrial environments and proficiency with DOORS, AutoCAD, Creo, and CATIA.

Qualifications

• Experience (3-5 years) in the Railway sector or in complex industrial environments.
• Good knowledge of main railway regulations and standards.
• Experience with engineering processes and railway operations.
• Good knowledge of RAMS principles and processes.

Responsibilities

• Prepare System Requirements Specifications (SyRS).
• Define and manage system interfaces throughout the project lifecycle.
• Analyze and assess technical documentation from Suppliers.
• Prepare and verify system installation/integration drawings/specifications.
• Conduct design reviews with internal teams and suppliers.
• Prepare Functional Requirements Specifications (FRS) and Functional Test Specifications (FTS).
• Attend system stand-alone type tests and review type test reports.
• Support onboard integration, performance testing and validation phases.
• Review design documentation with customers and suppliers and propose changes.
