Job summary

Watco Transloading in Oklahoma and across our network is seeking a Signal Maintainer to inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and install railroad signal and crossing systems as part of a mobile crew. The role emphasizes safety, reliability, and teamwork while supporting diverse locations and shifts.

You will work with electrical, mechanical, and electronic components, following technical instructions and safety procedures to keep signals operating correctly and safely.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in railroad signal maintenance or related technical field preferred.
• Ability to learn railroad signal rules, procedures, and technical requirements.
• Basic understanding of electrical and mechanical systems.
• Ability to troubleshoot and determine corrective actions.
• Ability to read wiring diagrams, schematics, and instructions.
• Mechanical aptitude and use of hand/power tools and testing equipment.
• Strong attention to safety and detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Clear, professional communication with coworkers and supervisors.
• Willingness to travel extensively and work varied schedules.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and install railroad signal and crossing systems.
• Work as part of a mobile signal crew under the direction of a Signal Foreman.
• Install and replace signal equipment including foundations, masts, signal heads, gates, and wiring.
• Test signal and communication cables per plans and standards.
• Support cutovers, system upgrades, relocations, and commissioning of new or modified systems.
• Perform wiring inside signal houses and related enclosures.
• Travel to diverse locations and work nights, weekends, and extended hours as required.
