Job summary

Union Pacific Railroad is seeking an Assistant Signal Worker to support installation, repair, and maintenance of railroad signals and grade crossing warning systems across North America. You will work with diverse equipment and contribute to safe, efficient transportation of goods.

The role requires strong teamwork, safety compliance, ability to travel nearly full-time, and a high level of mechanical and problem-solving skills. A comprehensive benefits package accompanies the position.

Qualifications

  • Possess a valid driver's license and basic computer skills.
  • Capable of supervising others and organizing activities.
  • Commitment to safety regulations and safe work habits.
  • Strong arithmetic, measurement, and data extraction abilities.
  • Able to interpret tables, charts, and graphs to solve problems.
  • Familiar with mechanical principles for troubleshooting.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
  • Must complete an English assessment before interview.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect signal circuitry, equipment, and systems to identify defects.
  • Assemble, disassemble, troubleshoot and repair signal devices.
  • Install, maintain, repair, and replace signal communication systems.
  • Operate tools, machines, vehicles, and maintain clean work areas.
  • Travel across assigned territory in company vehicles.
  • Show initiative, own tasks, and deliver high-quality results on time.
  • Foster positive relationships with colleagues, supervisors, contractors, and customers.
  • comply with safety, FRA regulations, and company guidelines.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
