Job summary

Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) is seeking a Signal & Communications Technician to install, maintain and troubleshoot Train Control Systems and Grade Crossing Warning Systems across North America. The role requires a strong focus on safety, documentation, and hands-on electrical and software tasks.

You will work outdoors across varied conditions, supporting signal crews and maintaining inspection records in compliance with FRA requirements.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Post-secondary education preferred.
• Valid FCC General Radio Telephone Operators License (GROL) or ISCET certification required, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, test, inspect, and repair Train Control Systems, Grade Crossing Warning Systems, and related signal equipment.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair electronic equipment and system failures with standard test equipment.
• Perform software-related tasks, including diagnostics, software burning, uploading/downloading, event log retrieval, and system troubleshooting.
• Manage repair and return of defective circuit cards and components with vendors.
• Complete FRA test and inspection reports accurately.
• Provide technical support to Signal Maintainers and other staff.
• Work outdoors in varying weather, interpreting and correcting signal drawings.
