Job summary

Norfolk Southern is inviting applicants for an Electrical Apprentice Signal Trainee in Conway, PA. You will enter a seniority-based union pathway with classroom and field training, with potential relocation based on bid outcomes.

Training lasts about 52 weeks, including travel across districts and crosstraining in signal systems. During training, classroom pay is $1,200 per week (weeks 1–3), and apprentice pay is $36.48–$36.85 per hour (First130 and Second130 days).

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older and have a high school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
• Must obtain ClassA CDL within 90 days of hire (training provided).
• Must pass FRA drug and alcohol screening prior to employment.
• Legally authorized to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Perform FRA-required inspections and testing of signal systems and grade crossings.
• Install, maintain, and repair signal equipment including signal lights and switch machines.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics and diagrams.
• Operate testing instruments and hand tools; document inspections and repairs.
• Respond to on-call assignments, including nights and weekends.
