Job summary

Norfolk Southern Corp. is seeking an Electrical Apprentice Signal Trainee in Altoona, PA. This hands-on, field-based program trains you to install, inspect, and maintain critical signal systems for safe rail operations.

Senior union position with bidding on locations, extensive travel during training, and on-call requirements. You must obtain a Class A CDL within 90 days of hire; relocation may be needed for bids.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must obtain Class A CDL within 90 days of hire (training provided).
• Must pass FRA drug/alcohol screening.

Responsibilities

• Perform FRA-required inspections and testing of signal systems and grade crossings.
• Install, maintain, and repair signal equipment including signal lights and switch machines.
• Crossing warning devices and interlocking systems maintenance.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics and diagrams; document inspections and work performed.
