Job summary

Network Rail is seeking a Maintenance Manager to oversee a section of the rail network. You will lead a large maintenance team and coordinate in-house and contractor work across signalling, track and electrification to deliver inspections, renewals and maintenance.

You will plan, inspect and implement tactical works, with a focus on safety, cost and quality. The role includes on-call duties and the potential for out-of-hours work in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Experience managing the production and delivery of a comprehensive and compliant work programme.
• Ability to promote and embed safe working behaviours within the team.
• Ability to coach, influence and develop others.
• Knowledge of discipline-specific maintenance, inspection, faulting and renewal techniques.
• Ability to lead and implement change and improvement initiatives.
• Excellent communication and influencing skills, both in person and in writing.
• Comfortable working shifts including days, nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Manage a section of the rail network and lead a large maintenance team.
• Direct the work of in-house teams and contractors across signalling, track and electrification.
• Plan, inspect and implement tactical works to meet safety, performance, cost and quality targets.
• Respond to issues even when off duty; uphold safety and operational standards.
• Manage budgets and drive engagement and development across the team.
