Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an entry-level Engineering Assistant to support multiple departments with basic engineering tasks and data-based analyses related to passenger and freight rail operations.

The role involves assisting engineers with drawings, research, and project design while leveraging CAD tools and standard MS Office workflows. Enrollment in an accredited engineering program is required, with practical coursework in railway topics preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED or equivalent plus current enrollment in an accredited post-secondary engineering program.
• Completion of 2 years of post-secondary engineering program preferred
• Basic understanding of engineering, geometric, and algebraic principles
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
• Ability to perform basic engineering calculations
• Ability to organize information for use in drawings or other documents
• Relevant coursework experience with railway engineering
• AutoCAD and/or MicroStation experience preferred
• Knowledge of programming languages and experience working with large data sets preferred
• Experience with transportation agencies including rail and transit preferred
• Visa sponsorship is not available for this position

Responsibilities

• Assist assigned departments and/or projects with basic engineering-related tasks
• Assist engineering teams in various tasks and duties
• Assist engineers with research, development, and design of projects
• Assist engineers with preparation of engineering drawings and documents
• Assist with passenger, freight, and light rail transit operations planning and analysis
• Contribute to planning and construction studies from an operations and data-based perspective
• Perform other duties as assigned
