Job summary

Jobtailor in Illinois is seeking a driven entry‑level engineer to assist in producing design calculations, technical reports, and engineering plans for rail and transit projects. You will work with the project team on research, calculations, and development, applying MicroStation and AutoCAD tools.

The role emphasizes learning RTC/OpenTrack and contributing to operations analyses and construction studies within a data-driven framework.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required.
Understanding of engineering principles relevant to the discipline.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite required.
Familiarity with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD or other software.
Railway engineering coursework or experience is relevant.
Ability to learn RTC and OpenTrack software.

Responsibilities

Assist in producing and modifying design calculations, technical reports, engineering plans, and specifications.
Perform research, development, calculations, design, and delivery with the project team.
Assist with conceptual and detailed designs and calculations using current drawing and technical tools, programs, and software.
Contribute to project delivery for rail and transit planning and design projects.
Support passenger, freight, and light rail transit operations analyses.
Assist with planning and construction studies from an operations and data-based perspective.
