Job summary

CPKC is seeking an Assistant Trainmaster in Savanna, Illinois, to support efficient movement of traffic within the road territory and yard-terminal. The role focuses on developing and ensuring the daily yard-terminal/road operating plan is completed safely and cost-effectively.

You will lead train and engine crew, coordinate training and compliance with industry rules, and assist in crew transportation. A strong background in rail operations and safety, plus excellent communication, is essential

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to read and understand safety instructions and operating rules in English.
• Proficiency with MS Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) is expected.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate all train movements within yard and mainline under supervision.
• Standardize processes related to operating plan, arrivals, classifications, and dispatching of trains.
• Lead safety, service, productivity and financial metrics responsibilities.
