Job summary

Alstom in Pittsburgh, PA, is seeking a Test & Commissioning Engineer with 1–2 years of hands-on rail testing experience. You will plan, execute, and supervise onboard system testing to ensure safety and performance standards are met.

You’ll support validation and integration testing of signaling, control, communications, and onboard subsystems, troubleshoot issues, and document results with lessons learned to drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Electromechanical, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 1–2 years of hands-on testing and commissioning within rail or transportation systems, preferred.
• Strong analytical thinking, root-cause analysis, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with electrical and diagnostic tools, and experience troubleshooting hardware/software integration issues.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, customer-focused mindset, with travel flexibility.

Responsibilities

• Plan, execute, and supervise testing and commissioning of onboard systems on rail vehicles, ensuring compliance with standards.
• Support validation and integration testing of signaling, control, communications, and onboard subsystems.
• Troubleshoot system integration issues, collaborating with design and development teams to resolve root causes.
• Document results, track nonconformities, propose corrective actions, and capture lessons learned to drive improvement.
• Enforce safety, environmental, and quality standards throughout all phases of testing and commissioning.
