BNSF Railway is hiring a Mechanical Shop Laborer in Richmond, CA. This full-time role supports skilled mechanics with maintenance and repair of locomotives and equipment in a 24/7 shop environment. You will keep areas clean, operate shop tools, and assist with safety-focused daily tasks.

Relocation assistance is not available; a 120-day probationary period applies. Training is on-the-job and company-paid. Union membership is required per agreement with benefits tied to the union contract.

Qualifications

• Able to work now and in the future without employer sponsorship.
• At least 18 years of age by start date.
• Possess a valid state-issued driver's license.
• Ability to report for duty at the designated work location.
• Able to work safely in the described conditions.
• Able to work the stated shift/hours.
• Able to read, write and communicate in English.
• Ability to lift up to 60 lbs.
• Color vision to distinguish red/blue/green/yellow.
• Capable of handling signals and alarms in a noisy environment.
• Able to climb ladders and on/off equipment.
• Occasional work at heights.
• Willingness to follow safety PPE rules.

Responsabilités

• Assist skilled mechanics with maintenance and repair work on locomotives and equipment.
• Keep work areas clean and orderly.
• Operate forklift, mobile crane, track mobile, shop tractor, and power hand tools.
• Sand, fuel, and clean locomotives; organize shop areas.
• Operate power-driven cleaning equipment.
• Work in a safety-sensitive environment under varied weather conditions.
