Job summary

BNSF Railway is seeking a Mechanical Shop Laborer in Minneapolis, MN. This full-time role supports mechanics in maintenance and repair of locomotives and equipment within a safety-sensitive environment.

Training is provided on the job; relocation is not offered; union seniority governs shifts, with nights, weekends, and holidays possible. Expected to work 40 hours per week, with a probationary period of 100 days and a minimal travel requirement.

Qualifications

• Basic Qualifications include: legal authorization to work in the U.S.; 21 years or older; CDL with test endorsements or ability to obtain within 60 days; ability to read, write and communicate in English; ability to lift up to 50 pounds; ability to work shift hours and in safety conditions; ability to climb ladders and work at heights; safety gear and PPE per policy.

Responsibilities

• Keep work areas clean and orderly and operate industrial maintenance equipment.
• Operate forklift, mobile crane, track mobile, shop tractor, and power hand tools.
• Sand, fuel, and clean locomotives and tidy shop areas.
