Job summary

Sound Transit in Seattle seeks an experienced Rail Maintenance Planning Specialist responsible for detailed lifecycle analysis of transit assets, maintenance cost forecasting, and end-to-end planning for light rail extensions and asset rebuilds.

You will develop maintenance plans, manage budgets, and coordinate with operations, engineering, and external consultants, ensuring records and reports meet agency standards and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Electronics/Electrical Maintenance, or related field.
  • Four years of experience in maintenance operations and/or planning with budget responsibility.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and maintains detailed rail maintenance/overhaul plans for extensions and LRV fleet needs.
  • Analyzes maintenance plans, costs, personnel needs, and life cycle requirements for assets.
  • Documents maintenance costing methodology for various scenarios and milestones.
  • Coordinates staff and consultants on rail maintenance planning development.
  • Works with operations to determine scheduling and asset usage for replacement or rebuild.
