Job summary

Sound Transit in Seattle seeks a Transit Operations leader to oversee contracted maintenance services for LRVs and related assets. You will manage budgets, schedules, and performance, coordinating with contractors and internal teams to ensure safe, reliable rail operations.

The role requires a engineering degree, 5+ years in maintenance leadership, and strong contract management skills. Extensive benefits, PTO, and parental leave accompany the position.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Electronics/Electrical Maintenance, or closely related field.
  • Five years of managing and supervising maintenance operations of heavy or light rail system.
  • Three years of leadership, budgetary, planning and workforce management experience.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, directs, coordinates, and reviews the work of assigned staff; assigns work activities and coordinates schedules, projects, and programs; provides constructive feedback.
  • Coaches, trains, and motivates staff; manages the workflow and prioritization of projects and measures performance.
  • Reviews work orders, maintenance system reporting, and quality of workmanship inspections; coordinates day-to-day issues with maintenance contractors.
  • Meets with contractors to work out issues on repair methods, staffing levels, and coordinates the maintenance schedule to meet needs of the rail system.
  • Provides support to the division and acts as SME on rail maintenance issues; prepares staff reports and correspondence.
