Job summary

Sound Transit in Tacoma, WA, is seeking a skilled Light Rail Systems Maintenance Technician to diagnose, repair, and maintain LRVs and related systems. You will perform preventive maintenance on traction power, signaling, and OCS components, ensuring safety and reliability on the right-of-way.

The role requires experience with electrical/electronic and mechanical systems, fault diagnosis, and the ability to read schematics.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical Maintenance or closely related field.
  • Four years of repair/maintenance experience on light/heavy equipment; familiarity with LRVs preferred.
  • DOT physical required with negative test; CDL-B within 6 months; HVAC/EPA certification.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, maintain, repair, and overhaul light rail vehicles and electrical/electronic systems.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on LRVs and subsystems including signals, CCTV, and traction power.
  • Inspect substations, OCS, tracks, and right-of-way components; diagnose faults and perform corrective actions.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and maintenance manuals; document repairs and inspections.
