Job summary

RSI Logistics, recently acquired by Trinity Industries Inc., seeks a Railcar Maintenance Coordinator to ensure timely documentation of qualifications, maintenance, repairs and cleaning of railcars, enhancing performance and utilization.

In this role you will work with clients, railroads and RSI personnel to maintain compliance with AAR/DOT/FRA and environmental laws, organize logs and records, and use ERP/Rail TMS tools to verify data and improve processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in maintenance of rail operations or logistics coordination.
  • ERP/Rail TMS/SAP experience highly preferred; strong system savvy.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations from AAR, OSHA, DOT, FRA.
  • Vendor/Client relationship management experience preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to prioritize tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Works with client to establish annual maintenance requirements (programs).
  • Organize, update and maintain shop status reports and logs and distribute as requested.
  • Verify customer data and collect required documents for mechanical/regulatory changes.
  • Expedite annual maintenance requirements to meet deadlines.
  • Participate in client meetings as needed.
  • Read and verify maintenance materials to identify discrepancies and improvements.
  • Follow and maintain SOPs/KPIs.

Job description

RSI Logistics, recently acquired by Trinity Industries Inc., is looking for a Railcar Maintenance Coordinator. The Maintenance Coordinator’s primary objective is to enable timely documentation of qualifications, maintenance, repairs, and cleaning of railcars to enhance railcar performance and utilization.

This role is also responsible for ensuring compliance with all AAR/DOT/FRA and other applicable environmental, Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations.

The Maintenance Coordinator will interact directly with the client, railroads, railcar shops, railcar owners, and other RSI personnel. The role operates in a professional office environment and requires mechanical aptitude and decision-making skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Works in partnership with client(s) to establish annual maintenance requirements (programs).
  • Organize, update and maintain shop status reports, operational records, and logs of activities and distribute as requested upon completion.
  • Verify customer and account data by reviewing, correcting, editing, recovering or re-entry of data in order to collect all required shopping documents related to mechanical and regulatory changes.
  • Expedite the established annual maintenance requirements (programs) based on client requirements to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Participate in client-required meetings on this topic as needed.
  • Ability to read, understand, evaluate and verify a wide range of railcar maintenance materials and information to recognize and correct discrepancies and or areas of improvement as necessary.
  • Follow and maintain SOPs/KPI’s as necessary.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in logistics supply chain management preferred, and or in a related field equivalent to logistics or business
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in maintenance of rail operations or logistics coordination
  • System savvy (prior ERP experience, Rail TMS/SAP experience highly preferred, database management skills highly preferred)
  • Knowledge of safety regulations from AAR, OSHA, DOT, FRA
  • Vendor/Client relationship management experience preferred
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to prioritize tasks to ensure completion in a timely manner
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, independently and collaboratively with a team
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (strong Excel and Access knowledge is required), Microsoft Teams, Outlook, and Zoom
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
