Job summary

Octavius is seeking a Managing Quantity Surveyor to lead commercial delivery across major rail projects within Network Rail’s North West & Central Framework. You will own cost planning, forecasting, CVR reporting and commercial strategy while mentoring a growing team.

You’ll manage multiple projects, handle procurement, and build strong relationships with clients and stakeholders. This role combines leadership with hands-on project delivery across rail infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in Quantity Surveying or commercial management on large infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of cost management, forecasting and contractual administration.
• Experience with NEC contracts, ideally NEC4.
• Proven ability to lead and mentor a commercial team and manage stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead the commercial management of multiple projects, ensuring strong financial and contractual performance.
• Take ownership of cost planning, forecasting, CVR reporting and commercial strategy.
• Manage risk, change control and commercial opportunities.
• Lead procurement and supply chain engagement.
• Build strong relationships with project teams, clients and stakeholders.
• Support and develop a growing commercial team, initially managing 1-2 direct reports.
