Job summary

Amtrak is seeking a skilled technician in California to inspect, test and maintain plumbing, hydraulic and pneumatic systems on High Speed Trainsets in line with FRA and Amtrak Tier II standards.

The role requires a HS diploma, trouble-shooting experience, and the ability to read mechanical drawings, with certification training mandatory. Familiarity with electrical tools and computer skills is expected.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience troubleshooting, repair, replacement and rebuilding of mechanical equipment and systems.
• Experience testing equipment and repairs to water and sanitation systems.
• Must complete training and attain/retain applicable certification.
• Knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings.
• Knowledge of electrical tools and measurements to meet standards.
• Ability to train others in inspections and repairs.
• Demonstrated computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs inspection, testing and maintenance in accordance with 49CFR regulations and Amtrak Tier II standards on High Speed Trainset equipment.
• Troubleshoots equipment to determine corrective actions and causes of failures.
• Installs, maintains and repairs hydraulic and pneumatic circuits and systems.
• Repairs tilting system, brake, water heating and sanitation systems.
• Installs, maintains and repairs heating and cooling equipment and related piping.
